NFPA Reporting Option

With the NFPA 110 Reporting Option, hospitals can run monthly tests and have automated reports generated and then emailed for simple compliance with JCAHO. A defined set of data points are captured from the genset over a period of 30 minutes and percentage load is monitored to ensure the testing stays about the required 30 percent.

While the tests are being run, live data can be viewed via a remote HMI screen from anywhere on the network.

The NFPA oversees the use of emergency backup power systems and a 110 classification states that an emergency backup power system is being maintained in safe operating condition. Backup power must be tested monthly for 30 minutes at 30 percent of the kilowatt rating or maintain the lowest exhaust gas temperature recommended by the manufacturer, and that testing can now be done remotely. This Module will relieve hospital support staff from the burden of standing in front of each genset, each month, for 30 minutes to record data. NFPA 110 classification is necessary for many local and state inspections.

One customer has found another use for our NFPA110 Reporting Option- generator capacity analysis at a regional 911 center. The center serves as a link between the community and all law enforcement and fire departments in the area. In this situation, the assurance of the functionality of backup power is paramount so that public safety services continue to operate in the event of standard power source failure. The local city’s network and security manager uses the reporting option twice a year for a four hour facility load test and is able to trend capacity for the areas electrical backup systems, monitor capacity of the gensets and trend for planning and budgeting. The testing is targeted for both especially hot and cold days to assess the functionality of backup power in extreme temperatures.
