Monico Monitoring, Inc. Welcomes Mike Granby as President & Chief Technology Officer

Monico Monitoring, Inc. is pleased to announce that Mike Granby will join the company as President and Chief Technology Officer, effective January 1, 2026. Mike recently relocated to the Houston area with his wife and family in preparation for this leadership transition.
With this change, Doyle Taylor, Monico’s founder and current President, will transition into the role of Chairman of the Board of Directors, continuing to guide Monico’s long-term strategic and technological direction.
A proven leader in industrial automation
Mike brings more than 40 years of experience in industrial automation, HMI development, business leadership, and edge-device innovation. Originally from the UK, he founded his own HMI company in the early 1990s, which was later acquired by Spectris, the parent company of Red Lion Controls.
He relocated to the United States in 1999 as VP of Engineering for Red Lion Controls and was promoted to President just months later. During his 17-year tenure, he led the company through significant growth, increasing revenue from $30M to $120M while also acting as the architect and lead developer of the Crimson software package.
After stepping down from his position at Red Lion, Mike began collaborating with Doyle Taylor as a software developer and consultant, contributing key architectural insights and development work that helped form the foundation of several of Monico’s modern software initiatives.
As President & CTO, Mike will continue guiding the software engineering direction at Monico, supported by the additional development resources that the company plans to add.
Driving innovation and operational excellence
Mike’s leadership will be focused on two primary strategic objectives:
- Improving project delivery and automating mCore deployments
Mike is known for saying, “If it’s a pain in the neck, we’re doing it wrong”, although often with a more colorful locus of discomfort. He will lead efforts to streamline deployment workflows, reduce complexity, and alleviate pressure on Support. - Expanding Monico into new markets
With a proven record of scaling industrial technology businesses, Mike will help diversify Monico’s market presence and drive long-term growth.
Looking ahead
This leadership transition marks an exciting new chapter for Monico. Doyle will continue working closely with Mike and the leadership team to ensure strong alignment and a smooth transition.
Mike and Doyle will also be launching a new venture in January 2026 to apply the edge and device management software developed for Monico to the broader industrial market. Cutting Edge Software’s Nova platform will provide secure industrial communications, networking and visualization based on field-tested technologies. Further information will be provided in the coming weeks.
